THE HISTORY OF ESPN 1480

WRSW-AM 1480 signed on for the first time in 1953 as a complimentary station to 50,000-watt 107.3 FM in Warsaw, Indiana. Its programming was oldies-light adult contemporary music, with local news, church programming and Warsaw High School Sports. In the late 1990’s, WRSW-AM simulcast the programming of 107.3 FM.

ESPN 1480 signed on at Midnight on October 16, 2000.

On September 10th, 2001, Roger Grossman broadcast the first local sports programming with the 6:15am Local SportsCenter.

ESPN 1480’s daytime signal (1,000 watts) covers all of Kosciusko County, Plymouth to the west,  Wabash to the South, Columbia City to the east and Goshen to the north. At legal sundown by FCC regulation, ESPN 1480 powers down to 500 watts with a directional signal. Our towers are located on Country Club Drive off Country Club Road on the western banks of Winona Lake.
