5)  Supplemental Recruitment Initiatives. 

(a) Initiative: Internship

The Employment Unit coordinates with area colleges to offer internship opportunities for students interested in careers in broadcasting.  Students shadow Employment Unit personnel and observe the on-air talent, as well as the creation and production of news reports.  Students are also given the opportunity to work with production equipment.  The internship opportunities vary in length, but can be as long as 6 weeks.

 

(b) Initiative: Program Sponsored by an Educational Institution

On May 14, 2007 an Account Manager participated as a featured speaker at the Warsaw Community High School Career Day where he discussed career opportunities in broadcasting.

 

(c) Initiative: Participation in Other Activities

1.      On October 30, 2007 an On-Air Talent delivered the Keynote Address for the Nontraditional Employment for Women Opportunities Workshop, a workshop designed to educate attended about employment opportunities in the broadcasting industry.

 

2.      On Tuesday, March 18, 2008 an Account Manager/On-Air Talent moderated the Warsaw Education Foundation Quiz Bowl. This program is used to fund scholarship programs for Warsaw area high school students.
