IS IU BASKETBALL ON LIFE SUPPORT?                              roger@wrsw.net

So Indiana University AD Rick Greenspan announced Thursday that he would step down from that position in December. That announcement came as the NCAA was releasing details of a sixth allegation against IU—the dreaded “lack of institutional control” claim.

1)            WHAT TOOK SO LONG? This should have happened back in the spring when all of

this first broke. Greenspan was the voice we heard saying “don’t worry, I’ll handle him (Kelvin Sampson)”…then didn’t.

2)            DECEMBER? Is IU seriously going to let this guy manage IU sports for another 6 months? Should they really be letting a growing IU football program be overseen by THIS guy, who has proven he isn’t responsible enough to baby-sit a napping 2 year old.

3)            WHERE WAS/IS THE BOARD? The members of Board of Trustees and the selection committees are ultimately responsible for this mess, because they signed off on both Greenspan and Kelvin Sampson. Anybody got anything for them? Maybe it’s time for SPORTS PEOPLE to advise the university on filling SPORTS JOBS and not university know-it-alls who continue to prove they don’t know squat.

4)            WHAT IS THE FALL OUT? What is left for Tim Crean, and should we now look at HIM as being not-so-smart for taking a job that could lead him into probation (or worse) for most of his scheduled contract?

Here’s what’s really bad about all of this…the resident IU fans in the building here are talking smack about the NCAA and say the “university didn’t know what was going to happen”.

If you think that too…WOW, YOU’RE DUMB.

Someone get the paddles out, because the IU Basketball program is flat-lining.
