Did you notice there was one team that NO one mentioned as a potential player

in the 2009 NFL free agent market?

Yep, the Bears once again didn’t bother to make even a token effort to go after

any of the big players who were available. Heck, did they even make a phone call?

I doubt it.

I am struggling to understand how the team in the second largest market in the

league and the biggest in the league with only one team who just instituted Personal

Seat License (where they make you pay for the rights to buy season tickets) just

didn’t have any money to go out and get an offensive lineman or a safety or a

big-time receiver.

Can someone help me understand where the franchise is going? Oh, wait…I get it.

The Bears are still owned by the same morons, the McCaskey’s, who forced the city of Chicago to spend $300M on the new Soldier Field and only add about 2,000 more

seats than what it had before.

See, the Bears say “we’ll just build through the draft like the Colts do…it works out

for them”.

My response?  “Jerry Angelo, I know Bill Polian—I have rooted for Bill Polian—you’re

no Bill Polian!”

So here sit the Bears, the team of Papa Bear, Butkis and Sweetness, happy to sit

idle and hope that the 7 players they chose in April will cause a metamorphosis

from a lack-luster outfit to a Super Bowl contender.

  Good luck with that.
